Free Wireless Computing at the Rice Lake Public Library, a WiFi-Enabled Location

Free access is provided in our library, at all times our library is open. You are invited to explore the Rice Lake Public Library's fast Internet network using your own Wireless-enabled laptop computer.

Simply launch your Web browser. Your computer's home page will appear and you may begin surfing immediately. Note: Printing is not available using the Library's wireless connection; you may access a printer by using one of the Library's public Internet workstations.

Security Issues

Note: When using any network connection, including the wireless Public Network, do not enable file sharing or print sharing. If you do so, other people may gain access to your hard drive and files, or misuse your computer. It is also highly recommended that your laptop has up-to-date antivirus software installed.

The Library's wireless network is not secure. Information sent from or to your laptop can be captured by anyone else with a wireless device and the appropriate software, within five hundred feet.

Library staff are not able to provide technical assistance and no guarantee can be provided that you will be able to make a wireless connection.

The Library assumes no responsibility for the safety of equipment or for laptop configurations, security, or data files resulting from connection to the Library's network.

Prohibited Activities

Illegal or inappropriate use of the Internet is not permitted. If inappropriate images are displayed in view of others in the Library, the offending party will be asked to leave the building.
