Job Posting: Library Director

The Rice Lake Public Library is seeking a full-time Director The ideal candidate will possess an ALA-accredited MLS, have at least five years of professional library experience (including at least two years in a progressively responsible administrative position) and be eligible for a Grade 1 Library Director Certification issued by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, possess strong communication, organizational, public relations and supervisory skills. They will also have experience with budgets, planning, grant-writing, administration and library-related technologies. A complete job description is available here.

Salary of $51,000 to $57,000 based on experience and qualifications. Rice Lake is a city of 8,000 in a recreational area in Northwestern Wisconsin within 2 hours of Minneapolis, St. Paul and serves as a commercial hub for the region. The selected applicant will receive a generous benefit package. Residency in the city required within 6 months of hire.

  • Paper Beads.  Join us on Thursday, July 9 at 2 p.m. for a chance to get creative with scrap paper!  We'll make beautiful jewelry with paper, twine, and a few basic supplies you can find in your kitchen.
  • Lakeview PAWS with Heart Therapy Dog Visits @ Storytime:  Kids at our "On My Own" storytime on Monday, July 13 can meet Zimba--a sweet and fun dog who loves to hear stories.  That Saturday, July 18 at 10, we'll host Buddy-another great dog who loves books and libraries! 
  • Flamenco Espana Performed by Cuadro Folklorico:  Families and kids of all ages are invited to see this amazing Spanish Flamenco music and dance performance on Wednesday, July 15 @ 2 p.m.
  • Author Visit, Jean Herbert: Author Jean Herbert comes to discuss her book "Beyond the Open Well: the True Story of Bright Meadow and Desert Princess" (2008) Thursday, July 16 at 6 pm in the Friendship Room ~ FREE ~ All  are welcome!
  • Teen Pizza and a Movie Night  Teens in grades 6 and up can come for pizza and stay for a showing of "He's Just Not That Into You."  Our film this month is rated PG-13 for some sexual content and brief strong language.  6th graders under 13 will need parent permission to attend.
